Winchcombe Mug

$80.00

Winchcombe made an extensive line of pottery for the table, something like 72 different items when I worked there. We basically used two glazes, a semi-matt oatmeal glaze and a tenmoku which is what you see here on this cup. Eddie Hopkins made it and I have a series of photos of him as he made and handled 500 of them in a little less than a week! He was a savant at the wheel, throwing these lovely robust forms by the thousands and thousands. All made beautifully. Eddie took me to my first pub. A real friend! Holds 8 ounces.
