No.8 – Spout with Three Legged Pitcher Attached (late 1980’s – early 1990’s)
Another in a series of altered pots made many years ago. This is also three sided although I started out making them four sided, but just like a wooden table, four legs can wobble, three are a breeze! So practical issues shaped my working methods.
This is thrown on the wheel and then slipped and altered all at once. When it stiffens I added small feet and a robust handle and an oversized spout/beak. There are lots of historical pouring pots, both for everyday and ritual use, that have exaggerated spouts and handles, often representing birds or other animals. That’s not exactly what I’m doing here, but I have them in mind when I’m working this way.
