No.40 – Monument to a Golden Teapot (2009)
$250.00
I’ve mentioned this in other stories, but tea is just about my favorite thing to drink (beer is a close second). I make lots of teapots and jars for holding loose tea but once in awhile tea needs to be celebrated. That’s as good a justification as I can give you for making this unusual piece. I have made most of my living making very useful pots but I have also allowed myself to explore ideas just because they amuse me. This form with it’s various steps catch the wood ash on the horizontal planes and have a different surface on the vertical. Gold luster on the teapot finial seemed appropriate for an homage to that golden nectar!
