No.28 – Square-ish Dinner Plate (late 1990’s)
This piece was a transitional piece for me. The first decade of my career I made a lot of use of this glaze with simple brush work decoration. I’ve never been confident in my brush work but I could make this minimalistic decoration quite effectively. Then in the early 90’s I began slip trailing. This piece has both; the old and the new. Its was a little more pictorial than I ordinarily created but it represented a big change in my work. As always, I am interested in rim treatments and I often made these square-ish rims inside of circle.
