No.23 – Megalithic Man (2004)

This piece goes back to my earliest days in a pottery studio.  I’ve always loved pinch pots and I dropped one on the floor.  When I picked it up, I found the surface with had gather all the detritus from the floor.  I found that texture fascinating and I’ve been trying to reproduce that all my life.  I’ve been making these stacked stone pieces just as long and one day I added a face from a mold I had carved giving it its human like characteristics.  I always intended to make an army, but this is the only one.
