No.22 – Porcelain Object (2004)

It’s rare that I use porcelain; but I was invited to a show at Hatfield House, north of London, and I chose to make a series of tiny pots to save on the shipping costs.  I’ve often felt that I should use porcelain all the time because it really accentuates the fineness of my throwing and the richness of the glazes.  It has a little kiss of carbon on the rim.  It’s difficult nature has kept me from working with it for very long.  I love the celadon glaze and the translucency of the clay and I kept this piece as a reminder of that very successful show.  You may wonder what this pot should be used for…
