No.15 – Lobed Vase (late 1990’s)

This is another very rare copper glazed pot of mine. I have mentioned earlier that I don’t really get along with copper, but it took me a while to learn that I should just stop using it. It’s pretty amazing when it works, but it often turns red or pink in my heavily reduced firings and I don’t like that! This is a simple vase with 8 lobes but the magic from the firing is strong! Atmospheric potters (wood/salt) often talk about putting a ‘face’ on a pot…when the flame is licking on one side of the pot the surface can be altered, sometimes subtlety sometimes dramatically, check out the two faces on this one!
